Yet Another Snow storm Hits the Wormy Apple

This is down my block.  Walked to the train this morning as there were no busses.

FIre hydrant around the corner.  It looks like a little gnome.  Hehe.

Here's the top of the 7 train in the station.

Can we stop with the snow already??? Sheesh.

Chubby naked mannequins in the window of The Avenue store. You would think that they would make them more realistic and make them with rolls of fat. Lmao!

Death Star Cookie Jar

Hehe, here you go Star Wars fans.

The Death Star is a symbol of the Empire’s power in the Star Wars universe, and often brings with it a sense of dread to all inhabitants on planets of which comes into the purview of the Death Star. Nice to know that the wonders of miniaturization has resulted in this rather delicious looking Death Star Cookie Jar, where this officially licensed ceramic sculpture will hold as many of your favorite cookies as it possibly can within its 12″ diameter of a body. While all the energy stored in those cookies will be unable to blow up a planet, at least it will send your appetite to the dogs once you’ve stuffed yourself with a few hundred grams of your favorite cookies. At $49.99 a pop, it is far cheaper than building an actual Death Star, and we would recommend to keep this out of reach of children lest their clumsy hands send it crashing down to earth.

Starbucks lets you pay for that Trenta with the iPhone in your shaking, overcaffeinated hands

I've already downloaded my app. Did you?

Expanding a trial that had already been underway in a few markets, Starbucks is now rolling out its Starbucks Card mobile app nationally with payment capability built-in, meaning you needn't reach into your wallet, pocketbook, or purse just because you're jonesing for that midday caffeine fix. Instead, you can fire up the app -- which supports the iPhone, iPod touch, and a number of BlackBerry models -- and hold up a barcode on the screen to a scanner in the store, at which point monies will be automagically deducted from your Starbucks Card account and transferred back to the mothership in exchange for high-octane brew. The circle of life, as it were. Follow the break for the full press release.

Face Mug looks different

Haha! This is hilarious. I think I might have to put this on my Christmas wish list. But then again you get half the coffee.... hmm.

Now look at this mug – it is definitely a totally different design from what you’ve seen before, as it will surely make your guests sit up whenever you serve them coffee with this. The Face Mug, as it is obviously and affectionately called, might cost a rather pricey $18, but at least it comes with a hungry mouth orifice that allows you to hang a cookie from it, making it ideal for serving milk as well as cookies, or you can always opt to throw in coffee and doughnuts if that’s your cup of tea (pun not intended). Of course, there is no provision made to contain those crumbs as you chew on the cookies, and it won’t be able to hold as much coffee as some of you might prefer. At least the white ceramic in which it comes in can be artistically painted over by the more enterprising of folks out there.

Hello Kitty Onigiri

Haha! I feel for this guy but these are cute as hell.

Having a Hello Kitty fanatic in your life is bad. Really bad. So bad that nobody except those suffering through their own Hello Kitty Hell can even understand. My sympathies go out to you, but is actually can be worse. Seriously, I don’t think that there can be something quite as terrifying and sadistic as a follower of the evil feline that also likes to cook. All you have to do is look at Hello Kitty sushi (or even worse, Hello Kitty spam sushi) and Hello Kitty bentos to realize the horrifying truth to this statement. Or Hello Kitty onigiri:

It is quite humiliating to have to admit that I have had Hello Kitty onigiri packed in my lunch on more than a few occasions. I can confirm that no matter how hard one tries, there is absolutely nothing that can make you look manly when you are munching on one of these (trust me, you never want to have to eat these around your friends). Just another part of the sad reality of living in Hello Kitty Hell…

Bear Chillin' in NY/NJ

Mike came over for dinner to pick Penny up.  He brought Beary Bear with him.  He was a little shy because there were so many people in the house.  I haven't seen him in a few years so he didn't remember me.  So sad... :o(

Here he is chillin' by the coffee table in the living room.

Sleepy Bear sitting on Mike's lap.

Getting a chest and belly rub by Penny... what a life!

It's good to be Bear.

Bark!  Bark!  Bark at Papa Yao!

Back to napping by the table....

*zzz*

Mr. and Mrs. Melnicki's dog Max.  So cute!

The boys at the Melnicki house.

Max sharing his toys with Bear.

Bear playing with one of Max's balls.  Toy balls that is.

Max is truly a people dog.

Penny stayed over the Melnicki house the night before they left because the needed to get Bear ready for his flight home.  Needless to say he wasn't very happy and I don't think he likes to fly.  Hopefully next time he will get to stay with Drew and his pack when Penny and Mike come home for a visit.

Sol's Big Birthday Bash

The owner of the business I work for on the weekends had a 60th birthday party this weekend so I was invited.  I brought my sister as my guest.  It was a nice time.  I didn't know too many people there but everyone was friendly and nice.  It was held at the Rooftop Restaurant at the Bentley Hotel.  The view was beautiful.

Here's the view from this little balcony by our table.

Table centerpiece.

Nancy being blinded by my flash... haha.  To the right is Melissa, Sol's daughter, and to the left is Roseanne, Nancy's wife.

Penny boozin' it up!  (With her Coke and lemon... hehe.)

There was a rock and roll theme.  These cupcakes were cute.  Penny took the Ringo one and the I took the George Harrison one.

Kathleen says, "In my belly George!"

Penny's second drink of the night!  (ginger ale... hehe.)

I forgot to take a picture of my drink but was something the cute gay bartender made up.  It was Three Olives Bubble Vodka, with cranberry juice, and I think a splash of something else.  It was yummy and not too strong.  I should've had that all night instead of the Amaretto Sour.

Happy Birthday Sol!

Lunch With the Family

We came to Main St. to have lunch. This food stall in the basement of a mini mall was really good.  It even got a "B" rating from the food/restaurant inspectors.  Lol.  I guess that's got to be pretty good for a small greasy little food stall in a basement of a mall.

Here's the front of the food stall.  They have the menu up in pictures.

It didn't occur to me to take pictures of the food before we started eating but I think you all can get an idea of what it is.  This is the fish and tofu stew.  It was a little spicy but not unbearable.  The flavors were nice and the fish was fresh and tender.

We also ordered the spicy chicken.  It looks like it's drowned in spicy oil but it was very flavorful.  This was served cold.

Penny wanted to try the rabbit.  It wasn't gamey but I wish they would've chopped the meat up a little better.  There were little bits of bone everywhere!  The flavors were similar to the chicken and the fish but has it's own unique flavor.

Although we didn't eat a this particular food stall they had a picture of Anthony Bourdain, top picture, eating here.  There was also a food stall that sold only lamb dishes that was featured in his show as well.  There was just so much variety it was hard to choose.
